Magnus Malmström, Nexus CEO, is looking for a VP of Engineering to lead our development, product and infrastructure teams. This mean to inspire and to guide more than 90 engaged individuals, across four countries and two continents. You will be part of Nexus' global management team and report to Magnus. Our headquarter is located in Stockholm and we believe you are as well. But as stated above, this is a global role and traveling will be part of the thrill. What will you be doing at Nexus Nexus is undergoing constant transformation, one of our guiding principles is Constant improvement. For you and your team it will be essential to execute on our vision, develop a program plan that incorporates inter-dependencies between functional areas, establishes playbooks to drive process and consistent outcomes for repeated tasks. You are responsible for proactively mitigating risk by identifying and controlling internal and external risk factors and supervise work to continuously iterate and improve. Part of the gig is representing Engineering in our global management team (and towards our new mother company IN Groupe). The management team doesn’t like stiff Power Point presentation, corporate B*S or copy-paste type of leadership. We are an innovative company and the management team are dynamic, freethinkers who value common sense more than anything. You will be challenged and expected to challenge others. As a leader for your unit, we expect you to lead by our Guiding principles (https://join.nexusgroup.com/), rather than by heavy and unnecessary process and restrictions. And speaking of our guiding principles, one of them is Customer Engagement and one thing this means is you will have the opportunity to interact with some of the worlds largest companies including automotive manufactures, banks, energy- and telecom companies. And the public sector - all around the world. You will coach and guide our customers to evolve their information security best practice as well as be part of enabling innovation in everything from e-charging, connected cars to digital and secure workplace. Engineering is a very important field for Nexus, so you are expected to have a strong hand in shaping the company future. We are not organizational boxes; we are people and we should always solve problems together. Involve people; tell them what’s going on and don’t be an island. You will be instrumental for technology choices and continued improvements in close relationship with customers, empowered by agile methods and ideas like SAFe or mob programming. Therefore we will be a little fuzzy regarding your exact background (we don’t do “minimum of 10 years leader experience” or such). But we have some ideas. First of all, we think you need to have SOME leadership experience. You will be responsible for 90 of our very valued people, so this can’t be your first rodeo. Secondly, we do think you have a techie background. As stated above we are not big fans of Power Point leadership, you need to have gotten your hands dirty in the past. Ideally you have worked as a developer and know your way around code. If not, you need to have worked really close to development before. And we mean really close, like "feel the body heat"-close. Third and maybe most important, you need to be the right person. You have a lean and Dev Ops mindset and always have the customer experience in focus. We seek someone that thinks strategically but balances that with acting and implementing locally to get things out. Basically, you can dive into details but have no problem with making the “big picture” decision. You are the coach to your team so we can scale and accelerate the course of growth. You shall master building relationships with customer-centric stakeholders and give access to domain specific competence to our customers as in many cases they work with us as a partner. The line of work requires that you communicate effectively up, down, and laterally to ensure alignment of work. You love the technology from cloud concepts to identity management and crypto agility and have a desire to learn and develop with it. If you, on top of all this, have experience from the security industry, have led engineering teams through transformation and can beat Magnus in golf, the job is more or less yours! To summarize the role and the profile, here are some bullets - A desire for transparency, flat organisation and where you communicate directly with individuals rather than through a chain of command - You find it natural to coach people to evolve from their comfort zone, and are not afraid to challenge the status quo both internally and externally - History of providing direction on architectural decisions and make judgment calls on when technical debt needs to be paid down. - Feel comfortable to participate in regular agile process activities including assisting in development of user stories, estimates, sprint planning and sprint reviews. - You enjoy leading through change, and work thoroughly while keeping up the engagement of people - Proven ability to successfully execute against strategy in cooperation with other functions including Product Management, Sales, Delivery, Marketing, Customer Success, Finance, and Leadership We are a global organisation, so more or less fluency in English is a must. And as our customers security is vital for us, a background check is required.
